Portraiture & Lighting Photography
3 Day Portraiture & Lighting Photography Workshop - 9:30am - 5:30pm
Portraiture is probably the most popular - and in many ways the hardest – discipline in photography. At sometime or other we have all taken a portrait – successful or otherwise. As humans we have an inherent urge to study images of each other, and more so than other genre, even a bad portrait can convey mood, atmosphere and emotion. Consequently a great portrait can be a very powerful image. Many photographers strive to achieve this, but relatively few succeed.
On our portraiture course we will look into the making of great pictures and examine the myriad of factors that influence them. With our tutors experience covering all forms of portraiture -from cultural travel portraits, to studio fashion shoots- we have the expertise to take your imagery to the next level.
During the three-day course students will be shown live demonstrations of lighting techniques and image styling. From using harsh lights to creative effect, and soft-lights to flatter your model. From balancing your lighting ratios to communicating with your model, we aim to deliver a comprehensive tutorial that equips you with the fundamental knowledge to shoot superb images of your own. Once the demonstrations are complete, each student will have their own time to work with the models and take their own photos.
As we have all seen in the many magazines that adorn the newsagents’ shelves, most high-end portraiture is extensively re-touched. Such treatments are arts in themselves and we will demonstrate the procedures used in polishing up a RAW file and adding that professional edge.
